Selecting a New Spell Check Dictionary

[1] Select Settings -> Tool Settings -> Set Main dictionary

[2] Select  one of the available dictionaries. (UK, US or Canadian).

The new dictionary will now be used as the main dictionary.

Adding a New Spell Check Dictionary

You can use any dictionary with the spelling checker.

The dictionary must be plain text and have one word per line in alphabetical order. These are often called 'word lists'

E.g.

apple
apricot
book
...
zygote

A good place to find free dictionaries is: sourceforge

The biggest problem is finding a suitable word list. E.g. for French most dictionaries are translation dictionaries.  These are not suitable unless you spend some time reformatting them.

To use the dictionary

[1] Place it in your install folder in the 'dictionary' directory.
E.g. 'c:/writeitnow4/dictionary'

[2] Rename it so it ends with '.dict'.    E.g. 'french.dict'

[3] Run WriteItNow

[4] Select Settings -> Tool Settings -> Set Main dictionary

Select the new word list you have saved.

The new dictionary will now be used as the main dictionary.
